Ed was a good friend. I had met Ed as a colleague in Reno, which we had many frustrating times making things work, but each project always became pretty successful. Always enjoyed the conversations of life’s adventures, us having some scattered similar experiences through our drastically different lives.
I remember his excitement to be back out on his boat, or his newest motorcycle project or find to later become a project.
I am really glad that I got to know Ed over the years and the lessons he taught me about life and engineering.
Will truly miss Ed from the bottom of my heart. Ed was one of a kind.

Ed Thomas was my friend. We met in Engineering School at Michigan Tech. The write up above mentions him being an accomplished chemical engineer and sailor. Ed was so much more. I liked to tell him he was the most fascinating person I knew. It never seemed to fail. As Ed retold some of his life's adventure, there would inevitably come a point where I would stop him and say, "Don't tell me, you were also a..." One instance it was a commercial diver, another was working on a pilots license. Among the hats Ed also wore: Big rig driver in Texas hauling cattle, oil worker, pizza driver, window washer, mobile DJ, and tutor are just a few. Ed was a gifted conversationalist and enjoyed meeting and talking with people he met along the way. I was proud to call Ed my friend and he will be dearly missed.
