BettyTHORPEOf Kibworth Harcourt, sadly passed away peacefully at Davenham Hall Nursing Home, Cheshire on 3/1/2022. A beloved Mother to her late son Viv, cherished Grandma to Simon & Robert, and Great Grandma to Lewis, Jacob & Thomas; Betty will be desperately missed by family and friends alike. After finishing her career as a Primary School Teacher, Betty enjoyed a long and happy retirement with her late husband Ray, tending to their beautiful garden, and as active members of the Kibworth Methodist Church and the local community. Betty especially enjoyed the visits from her son & grandsons in the holidays; she passed on a love of literature to both her grandsons from an early age. She was a wonderful cook, knitter and cross-stitcher, and an accomplished, fiercely competitive player of card and board games. Despite ill health preventing her attendance in later years, Betty remained in the thoughts and prayers of her friends at Chapel, who rallied around to assist her and kept her company between visits from family. Simon, Johanna, Robert & Sarah would like to express their sincere gratitude to Betty's friends for their support. A funeral service will be held at Kibworth Methodist Church on Monday 14th February at 11.30am, with a committal at Great Glen Crematorium at 12:30pm. Family flowers only please. If desired, donations will be gratefully accepted in Betty's loving memory for Versus Arthritis. Please contact funeral directors for further information.
