Anthony EdwardVALDEZ(Tony) Tony Valdez of Mill Gardens, Great Harwood passed away on August 10, aged 77 years. Before his retirement in 2002, Tony worked at Phillips in Blackburn as a planner. Tony enjoyed sea fishing, reading - Wilbur Smith, films - Star Wars, war films and family gatherings. Tony leaves behind his dearly loved wife, Valerie, cherished daughters Christine Cayton and son-in-law Adrian Cayton, Helen Hackett and son-in-law Wayne Hackett. Precious grandchildren Megan Turner, Lucy Cayton, Sally Lonsdale, Harry Lonsdale, Amy Lonsdale and great-grandchild Daisy Moorcroft. A cremation will be held on August 22 at Accrington Crematorium at 11.40am, conducted by celebrant Kathy Unsworth. Family flowers only, donations to Bank Mill House, Church Street, Great Harwood. Funeral Director: Great Harwood Funeral Service, 3 Clayton Street, Great Harwood, BB6 7AQ.

Gone Fishing

I have finished life’s chores assigned to me,
So put me on a boat headed out to sea.
Please send along my fishing pole for I’ve been invited to the fishin’ hole.
Where everyday is a day to fish, to fill your heart with every wish.
Don’t worry, or feel sad for me, I’m fishin’ with the master of the sea.
We will miss each other for awhile, but you will come and bring your smile.
That won’t be long you will see, till we’re together you and me.
To all of those that think of me, be happy as I go out to sea.
If others wonder why I’m missin’ just tell’em I’ve gone fishin’.
