Sylvia and Jim were both kind and most generous with their time, giving me great personal support as I commenced my career with the NFU at the Tiverton office. Through their guidance and wise encouragement, I joined the Cullompton Round Table, thus made
friends with a group of young men all aged under 40, who met fortnightly and enjoyed working on community fund raising projects
in their spare time. Many of those friendships forged in the mid 1960s, still endure today. We all came to appreciate that one’s time spent helping others less fortunate than ourselves, can be one of the most valuable gifts one can give to our fellow human beings.
Sylvia and Jim’s friendship, encouragement and support to me and my late wife, Avril, in our early years working in Mid Devon, are in themselves priceless, highly valued and so greatly appreciated. I am
sorry to know that they no longer walk amongst us, but truly glad that I enjoyed the privilege of enjoying their friendship whilst alive.
Thank you both, Sylvia and Jim. Now rest in peace.
