I write this testimonial with a heavy heart, as we mourn the loss of a remarkable individual who deeply impacted our lives. Miss Wakeham, a person of immense wisdom and integrity, was not only our mentor but also a major source of inspiration and encouragement.
I had the privilege of knowing Miss Wakeham for 45 years, and throughout that time, she consistently displayed an unwavering commitment to nurturing the potential of those around her. Her ability to recognize strengths and inspire others to push beyond their limits was truly extraordinary. She once gave me a certificate of achievement when I was just 12 years old and it motivated me greatly. Plus we acted together in Scrooge, a musical on Plymouth Hoe in 1982. Scared the hell out of me! as I was Peter Cratchit. She was a true disciplinarian Head Teacher of History.
Thus, Miss Wakeham possessed a unique talent for instilling in most a sense of purpose and ambition. She believed in people's abilities even when we doubted, constantly reminding us of the untapped potential that lay within. Her unwavering faith in us motivated us to strive for excellence and to be the best version of ourselves.
What set Miss Wakeham apart was her genuine care and concern for everybody's well-being, both academically and personally. She consistently went above and beyond to offer guidance, support, and a listening ear. Her kindness and compassion knew no bounds, and we will forever be grateful for the times she provided comfort during moments of uncertainty to many that needed it.
One of the most remarkable aspects of Miss Wakeham's mentorship was her emphasis on the value of hard work, industry and determination. She taught us that success is not simply handed to us, but earned through perseverance and a strong work ethic. Through her guidance, she imbued in us a sense of industry, urging us to be proactive and relentless in the pursuit of our goals.
Miss Wakeham's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled.
