DavidWALSHMr David Edward Walsh, of Booth Crescent, Waterfoot, died at home on June 13, aged 81. David rose from an apprentice gas fitter to Senior Service Manager at British Gas, where he retired after 37 years. He was a keen golfer (handicap 4). In his youth he played cricket for Rawtenstall and football in the Sunday School league. He leaves wife Jean Walsh, with whom he would have celebrated their Diamond Wedding anniversary in November 2021, sons Christopher and Nigel, daughter Nichola, grandchildren Emily, Chloe, Daniel and Oliver. He was Grandad Dave to Alex, and leaves daughters-in-law Deborah and Jen, sister-in-law Christine, brother-in-law Peter, and cousins Joan, Diane and Roy. The funeral was due to be held on Thursday, June 24, at 11.30am, led by Steven Crook at Fred Hamer, James Street, then 12.15pm at Burnley Crematorium. Family flowers only; donations if desired to Guide Dogs for the Blind. Donations can be made online at www.fredhamer. co.uk (tributes and donations).
