Erica was a fantastic colleague to me when I first started teaching at Kendrick, and she then became a lovely friend.
When my first daughter was born, she left a beautiful book for her on my doorstep, in which she had written: "Enough of all this lying around - time to get started on reading stories".
Long after we had both stopped teaching we regularly got together, and I played the piano whilst she sang. She was funny and utterly devoted to the pursuit of knowledge; I was very sad when she had to move away from Caversham. I am also very sorry to have heard the news of her death a year after the event.
