EULOGY: Lynette Warren’s “dash” (1943 - 2022)
Written by her sister, Faye
Lynette Patricia “Bahadur Barnard” Warren (March 4, 1943 to September 28, 2022)
Lynette was my sister. She was the 3rd eldest of eight children born to Mr. Charles & Mrs Olga Bahadur. Lynette had 5 sisters and 2 brothers, of which, 1 sister and both brothers, as well as her parents, predeceased her. (The 4 eldest siblings, of which Lynette is one, have now passed away, leaving the 4 youngest sisters). We were all born in Georgetown, British Guiana…..
A bit about Guyana :
On the North Eastern coast of South America, there are 3 countries that were called British Guiana, Dutch Guiana, and French Guiana. British Guiana is bounded on the West by Venezula, on the North East by the Atlantic Ocean, on the East by Suriname, and on the South by Brazil. The 4 longest rivers which run through the country are The Demerara, The Essequibo, The Berbice, and The Courentyne (which borders Suriname).
On May 26 1966, British Guiana, a colony of Britain, became independent of the United Kingdom and altered its name by dropping the “British” and changing the spelling from Gu-I-ana to Gu-Y-ana. Four years later, in 1970, Guyana became a republic within the Commonwealth of Nations and is now commonly known as The Republic of Guyana. Guyana is the only South American nation in which English is the official language.
The climate is tropical and generally hot and humid, throughout the year, with a bit of cooling by the North East Trade Winds along the coast. The main economic activities in Guyana are agriculture (rice and Demerara sugar), bauxite and gold mining, timber, shrimp fishing and minerals. Guyana is also known for the Kaieteur Falls, which is the world’s largest single-drop waterfall.

For the elementary years of school, Lynette attended Bedford Methodist School. She then went on to Central High School.
In 1961, she worked at Booker’s Stores Ltd, as a Cashier, for 1 year, in the Utility

Lynette Patricia, Mom
A wanderer, traveler a tinker, tailor nurse or spy, she led a much more adventurous life than any of us could ever really imagine. She was independent yet very much loved, a rarity for those 2 traits to coexist, but she balanced her life well.
Indeed, it is difficult to turn sadness into happiness.
But I am sure Lynette has gone to rest from her arduous battle with health and joined the angels that look over her family. In angels we trust, and, in that trust, we feel happy and safe in the knowledge that nanny Nette, mom, aunty and sis is looking after us from above.
A few readings picked from the bible
Wisdom 4:7-9 Comfort in mum's rest
“The just, though they die early, shall be at rest. For the age that is honorable comes not with the passing of time, nor can it be measured in terms of years. Rather, understanding is the hoary crown, and an unsullied life, the attainment of old age…”
12. Wisdom 3:1-3 Everything, including Mums soul, are in God’s hand.
“The souls of the just are in the hand of God and no torment shall touch them. They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead; and their passing away was thought an affliction and their going forth from us, utter destruction. But they are in peace.”
Isaiah 57:1 Mourning the death of Mum is our privilege.
“The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.

My sister, Lynette, heard her calling and she flew away. Those she left behind are sad and those who went before her will be glad.
I, too, will miss her but I know that she was, is, and always will be loved.
Let's celebrate her life with the memories that we shared in the joyful 79 years that she was here.
