BrianWATTSMR Brian Watts, of Birch Terrace, Baxenden, Accrington, passed away on Sunday, August 25, aged 84. Brian served his time as a printer. He eventually worked for over 10 years at the Accrington Observer before moving to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph in the early 1970s, where he stayed for over 20 years. Brian was a long-standing member and chairman of Baxenden Allotment Society. He was a keen and skilled vegetable grower; loved travel, history, wildlife and natural history and was an avid reader. He leaves sons Mark and Paul and daughters-in-law Pauline and Gill; sister Kathleen; grandchildren Amber, Connor, Laura, Richard, Matthew, great-grandchildren Ella, Dexter, Ffion, Rhys and Lana, together with half-brother Les. A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, September 10, at Accrington Crematorium, administered by Father Neville Ashton, followed by committal. Family flowers only please, however if desired, donations to East Lancs Hospice would be most welcome. Funeral director: Kirby and Hughes.
