The obituary notice of Revd Martyn WESTBY

As a family, we moved to Cherry Burton in 2001. Not knowing the area at all. Work being the reason we moved there. Totally in a whirlwind with a baby in tow. Martyn called in and all our neighbours rallied around. Within no time at all, we were welcomed, supported and our baby Tom christened in St Michaels and All Angels. Wonderful! Years with Martyn, and the people of Cherry. our fondest memories, we remain with the village and him, a happy, reliant man being there. We were lucky he was at the base of our faith. Comforting us when we lost our family. Jayne's time working at the School, and involvement all around. Martyn was a lovely, warm, genuine good man. We're so sorry he has passed but his smile remains with us. Love The Rutherford family now in Heiton, Scottish Borders. XXX

Martyn, you have been a true light in my life and for my family. I am profoundly grateful for the years of friendship and the steadfast way you stood by me during my darkest hours. I will never forget the grace and care you brought to my great aunt’s service when things were difficult, nor the strength you provided when I lost my dad and my uncles.
Even when your own path was steep, you reflected God’s light through every valley, living out the truth that 'Our God is Awesome.' You were truly wonderful. I’m so sorry we missed our last coffee, but I am holding our best memories close today—until we sit together at the table one day 🦅

Martyn was such a kind, sweet, joyful, steady, good man.
Having lived for a period with the Westbys and had many lunches at their home when I lived in Hull, I remember him fondly and am grateful for how he welcomed me along with Cathy to a new city and supported me during my time there.
Such love and respect for the difference he has made to others and how he chose to live his life, like Jesus. X

Martyn was a youth leader when I was growing up… he was the best. What a wonderful soul, he made such a difference and was always so kind, patient and humorous. A truly lovely person xx
