DorothyWHITWORTHMRS Dorothy Whitworth, of Ramsclough Farm, Haslingden Old Road, Oswaldtwistle, died at her home on Thursday, August 29, aged 89. She had worked at the Public Health Office for five years in Bacup from 1945, before becoming a livestock farmer. She married John Whitworth in August 1950, who was a farmer. She was a member of Rossendale Tenant Farmers Society and collected insurance for the National Farmers Union. She was also a secretary for Rossendale Lady Farmers' Society for many years and also volunteered at Green Haworth Primary School. She enjoyed flower arranging, tapestries and crafts. She leaves daughter Jacqueline, sons Stewart and Simon, and also had the late Jennifer. She also leaves 12 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 1.30pm on Thursday, September 12, at Immanuel Parish Church, Oswaldtwistle, administered by Rev Martin Joss, followed by burial in Immanuel Churchyard. No flowers by request, although, if desired, donations would be welcome to Green Haworth C of E Primary School, c/o funeral director Kirby and Hughes Funeral Services.
