IanWILDEIt is with broken hearts we announce the death of Ian.
Much loved husband of the late Margaret. Their love story was one of a kind and we are comforted to know they are back together, never to be separated again.
Devoted Dad to Mandie and Julie.
Adored Grandad of Amy, Rebecca, James and Daniel.
And the best Great Grandad to Arlo, Violet, Delphie and Rumer.
Ian is survived by his brothers Edwin and Robert.
Ian was an all round legend, turning his hand to almost anything from butchering to petrochemicals and enjoying a retirement of cruises and being with his family.
There will be a celebration of his life at Kirkleatham Memorial Park and Crematorium on Wednesday 8th July at 1pm.
All are welcome, please meet at the Crematorium.
What you chose to wear is immaterial, what really counts is your presence to say a joyful goodbye to a life most valued and wonderful.
Family flowers only.
There will be a donation box outside after the service.
Forever in our hearts, his legacy will be the lessons he taught us, the love he gave us and the stories he shared with us.

My first memories of little brother Ian was helping Derek carry him in a draw to the air raid shelter at the back of our house in Miles Street. Derek was seven, I was five and I’m pleased to say we never dropped him once.
Watching him grow, go to school and work then marry his bosses sister Margaret was a privilege.
Since that time distance parted us but the brotherly bond remained strong.
Good night, God bless Ian your memory lingers on.
Edwin, Sandra and family in Australia.

Ian big brother to me and bother-in-law to Alex and uncle to Andrew and Christopher you will be greatly missed. A resounding memory I have of us in younger days. Ian was 10 and I was 3 years old he took me to the nearby newsagents and bought me some sweets and himself a B****** Joe bubble gum. He unwrapped the gum and read the comic strip and joke and then said look if we send off this wrapper we can get a wand and two tricks sent to us. Weeks later they arrived Ian opened the parcel and there was indeed a wand and two tricks of which he gave one to me and then strolled away with the wand and other magic trick. That sum's up how generous my brother was. Although he never became a magician.
It is with a heavy heart that I write this knowing that I will miss you but I sincerely hope that you and Margaret have already embarked on a cruise that follows the sunshine doing things you both loved to do together. Love always.

Grandad,

I thank my lucky stars every day that I got you as my Grandad. Being loved by you was one of the greatest gifts of my life.

You gave me the ultimate life long princess treatment and are most definitely part of the reason I am the way I am. At 36, after living on my own for 9 years, I’ve only recently learned to decorate and cut my own grass because you always did it. You were my favourite decorator, gardener, handyman, potwash, childminder, taxi driver, bank and bin man and never once made me feel I was asking too much.

The memories I’ll treasure most are from when I was a brand new mam. You took Arlo and Violet for their injections, walked them up and down the road so I could have a break, rocked them to sleep, and reminded me daily of the great job I was doing and you didn’t know how much I needed to hear that.

You taught me how to swim, that driving is 99% courtesy, all about customer service from watching you in the butchers and never to leave my toaster plugged in at the wall and most importantly that boysies don’t like girlies with blackie teethies.

You weren’t just the best Grandad, you were the best man I’ve ever known. A once in 10 lifetimes kind of man. I pray my Arlo grows up to be just like you.

It goes without saying that I’ll love you and miss you forever. But if losing you and Grandma has taught me anything, it’s that no matter how heartbroken I am to have lost you both, I’ll always be even more grateful that I got to have you. The privilege was all mine to be loved by you.

Thank you for all the love you showed me, the lessons you taught me, the support give and the feeling that I never had to do anything alone.

All my love from her over the road ❤️
Amy
