Where time permitted prior to final print, they were included in David's Order of Service, a printed copy of which is possible to obtain. c/o lan Hazel Funerals Ltd. 274 Lichfield Road, Sutton Coldfield B74 2UH. Tel 0121 308 7777. Thinking of you Jenni, Megan and Paddy. I'm sorry for your loss. He sounds like such a lovely man. I'm sure he must have been so proud of you. I'll be thinking of you especially tomorrow. All my love, Fiona.

David was a very long standing and respected member of the All Saints Sea Scout Group. He served as Akela to one of the three cub packs the group used to run at the time . David did not however restrict himself to Cubs and was often found helping out at Beavers and Scouts as well. His sense of fun underpinned with just the right amount of discipline made him popular with the children and leaders alike. His move to help on district events saw his popularity expand across all of Sutton Coldfield scouting but he never forgot his roots at All Saints.
Farewell a loyal and trusted friend you will be greatly missed at All Saints and across scouting.
Gone home. Rest in Peace

I knew David mainly from a District perspective. I served with him on the District Exec and Appointments Committee. He was my Chairman when I acted as DC and his support was invaluable. He was a kind and loving man and always had a smile. He was loved by the Cubs and I do recall him playing Santa at the Cub Christmas parties. When holding Appointment Committee meeting at our house he would answer the door to candidates and occasionally be embarrassed when it was someone other than for the Committee. I was so pleased his hard work was recognised by the award of a Silver Acorn. David you will be missed. Rest in peace.

Akela Williams was my Sons cub Pack Leader, he was a giant of a man who knew how to keep his Cubs in order.. He was a gentle giant I feel, who exhibited a great love for Scouting and commitment to taking these young lads (no girls in scouting at that time) and teaching them artisan skills for life. I later became a scout leader myself and came to know Dave as a dear gentleman who loved a good tale over a drink at the Church Centre. God bless you Dave.

Grandpa was always on hand to force you to smile even when you were in the worst of moods, and was always right behind us with anything we chose to do but always keeping us in check along the way! Will always miss hearing his storeys over and over again, never getting bored! We will never forget the arguments at Christmas over bread sauce and left overs and it will never be the same without him! Hope you’re having a ball up there Grandpa and keeping out of trouble, lots of love Meg xx

I will always remember grandpa as a very proud man, who was always around at christmas time sitting around the table. Christmas will Never be the same again.

A memory that will always stick with me, is when me and grandpa went on the steam trains for his birthday and finished the day off with a hot cornish pasty before heading home. Rest easy, Padders

Our thoughts are with all the family at this difficult time as you celebrate David’s life and achievements. A very independent gentleman who had a cheeky sense of humour. Wish we could be there to support you Jenni but sending our love as you and your family gather together to pay tribute to your beloved Dad.
