JohnWILSONThe family of John Wilson (Jack) announces the passing of their father at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on 7 June 2024 aged 81. John was the much loved father of Susan, Carol, Maureen and John and beloved brother of June. He remained a good friend to his ex-wife, the late Sandie and her husband Bill Haggarty. His life was devoted to his children, who he raised, his grandchildren, Rachel, Nicola, Shannon, Katie, Siobhan, Jacob, Reece and Jonathan and his six great grandchildren, Finlay, Noah, Amelia, Ethan, Isla and Isaac whom he cherished. He was immensely proud of all their achievements. He was a family man respected by his relatives and friends. Accrington born and bred, John was a deeply knowledgeable person and highly competitive in his youth as a footballer and cricketer. In later years he relished pub quizzes and led darts and dominoes and pool teams in local divisions. He watched all sport on all channels and could recall football matches he watched or attended, in detail, from decades ago. After attending St. Anne's and St. Oswald's Schools, John, trained as an electrician with English Electric. After a spell at Pierces as an upholsterer, John retired from Rists as an electrical engineer at 57. He enjoyed a long retirement cherishing his expanding family and visiting Whitby, Anglesey and Italy, his favourite places. A funeral service for John will take place on Friday, 21st June at Accrington Crematorium at 1.40 pm, then on to the Peel Park Pub. John will be sadly missed but not forgotten.
