This week (28th April - 4th May) marks a significant period in our calendars as we observe MS Awareness Week 2025. It's a time for us to come together and shine a light on Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a neurological condition that affects more than 2.3 million people worldwide. This year, we're shifting our focus towards the transformative potential of MS Conversations.

The following charities have banded together this MS Awareness week to encourage everyone to have open, honest #MSConversations:
  • MS Society
  • MS Trust
  • MS Together
  • MS-UK
  • Neuro Therapy Network
  • Overcoming MS
  • Shift.ms
  • Talks with MS

Why is it Important to Talk About MS?

MS Conversations are not just about sharing experiences or offering advice. They are a lifeline for many who might feel isolated due to their condition. These dialogues offer emotional support, foster community spirit, and can be instrumental in helping individuals navigate through the complexities of living with MS.

MS Conversations also play a crucial role in advocacy and awareness. By sharing their stories openly, individuals with MS can help break down misconceptions surrounding the condition, promoting a more inclusive and understanding society.

How Can I Take Part in MS Awareness Week 2025?

  • Start a conversation - Whether with a loved one, friend, colleague or health professional, start talking about your MS, your way.
  • Share your story - Use #MSConversations on social media to share your story with others, read other people’s stories, and start conversations about MS.
  • Find support - Most charities mentioned above have services to help you with your MS journey. Whether you just want more information or a conversation with someone impartial, they can help.
  • Utilise resources - Check the charity websites for resources to help you get involved and start conversations. From conversation prompts to social media posts, plenty of resources are available.
As someone with MS, I know that it can be incredibly isolating, especially if you don’t know anybody else who has it. It can be challenging to explain your symptoms and how you’re feeling to loved ones, friends, colleagues, and even medical professionals. More conversations about MS mean more understanding surrounding the disease and its symptoms, and more help for those who suffer from it.
As we commemorate MS Awareness Week 2025, let's remember the importance and power of MS Conversations. Let's listen, learn, share, and advocate together. After all, it is through dialogue that we promote understanding, foster empathy, and inspire action.
